For almost 40 years, the legendary Darlington Dragway has hosted numerous drag racing events from IHRA Summit Super Series points races to the Winter Nationals event that featured drag racing legends such as "Big Daddy" Don Garlits, "The Bud King" Kenny Bernstein, John Force & many others.
Starting in 2012, Darlington Dragway has new ownership at the reins. This news brings a new chapter to the track & some exciting events to our racers and spectators. This seasons schedule features Grudge TNT events every Wednesday & some Saturdays, 16 IHRA Summit Super Series points races, Labor Day weekend IHRA Pro-am event, Saturday Night Thunder event this Summer, Quick 8 Outlaw & Dixie Outlaw Doorslammer Pro Mod events, East Coast Grudge event, Mustang Week Shootout, Mopar Week Shootout, the Palmetto Nationals / IHRA Ironman Classic, Pure Power Performance Grudge Fest Bike Tour event and many more.

Carolina Thunder & Lightning Challenge Series
During 2012, Darlington Dragway & Fayetteville Motorsports Park have teamed up to offer 4 points races between each track called the Carolina Thunder & Lightning Challenge Series. All 4 races have a guaranteed purse for Top Eliminator class, Modified class & Jr Dragster class. Each driver automatically is entered into the series points. $5.00 of every entry goes into the points fund. Points payout to be determined by number of entries & sponsors.
The dates for the Carolina Thunder & Lightning Challenge Series is May 12th at Fayetteville, July 12st at Darlington, August 25th at Darlington & October 6 at Fayetteville. Click here to view flyer.

The New Quick 8 Outlaws Series for 2012
The Quick 8 Outlaws are proud to announce that they and Tommy Mauney Race Cars have formed a partnership for the 2012 season. At each race at the legendary Darlington Dragway the top qualifier will receive the Tommy Mauney Race Cars number one qualifier award.

Dixie Outlaw Doorslammers 4.40 Index
With the 2012 season right around the corner, it's time to get ready. The Dixie Outlaws are going to be racing at the legendary Darlington Dragway. There are several races scheduled for the 2012 season including having the season finale at this years 2-Day Palmetto Nationals / IHRA Ironman Classic.
Chris Wooten and Buddy Trivett have been working hard to make the Dixie Outlaws come together. All the dates for the Dixie Outlaw Doorslammers are on the schedule page of their series website, with the first race is April 7th. Read more...

| The Polburn's Perfect Package Prize
The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) is pleased to announce a new program for racers who record a perfect package at an IHRA track in 2012. Any racer who records a perfect package at an IHRA track between January 1st and December 1st of 2012 will be entered into a drawing to win a prize package that includes free membership for one year, one car and driver entry to any Nitro Jam event, IHRA decals, patches, flags, hats and other various goodies. The winner be selected at random on December 3, 2012.
All racers have to do is follow these easy steps and they will be eligible for the new program awarded to flawless racers across North America. Read more...

| History of IHRA Drag Racing & Area Tracks
IHRA founder Larry Carrier was instrumental in the construction of both Rockingham and Darlington International Dragways. In this photo work is progressing at Darlington under the watchful eyes of Harold Brasington, builder of the Darlington NASCAR track. At one time IHRA had the best tracks in drag racing. Bristol Dragway, Rockingham Dragway and Darlington Dragway were state-of-the-art facilities, better than anything the NHRA had. Even what Indianapolis had. Read more... | |
